Botulinum Toxin

Botox is FDA approved.  It is OnabotulinumtoxinA, which are products that occur in nature.  It is injected into the small facial muscles that will smooth frown lines and crows feet.

What should I expect a treatment for Botox to be like?

It’s a series of small injections into some facial muscles such as the corrugators, forehead, and crows feet as well as neck. The needle used is a very thin gauge.  It’s a fast treatment that lasts moments to apply.  The doctor may use a numbing topical cream or a cool spray that helps cool the skin before he applies the botox.

How long do results last?

Results last anywhere from 3-7 months.  Patients who regularly get botox show they have complete removal of lines and find that maintenance helps prevent the recurrence and prevent many new wrinkles.

Are there any side effects?

Common, minor side effects include possible headache after treatments, numbness from the lidocaine, and possible small bruises.  Other possible side effects could be droop of the eyelid.  Dr. Bergqvist has experience in administering Botox to thousands of patients and his skill shows that his side effects are extremely low.  Should anything occur, he has experience in a remedy that can counteract any unwanted results.

Who is a candidate?

Anyone who is looking for fewer lines can be a candidate. Males and females are commonly seen anywhere from their late 20’s up to their late years.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on how many areas you are treating.  Dr. Bergqvist prefers an initial consult as it is important to make sure the patient will be happy with the procedure.  Prices are set per units delivered. Dr. Bergqvist gives the necessary units and does not dilute them down for maximum results. It’s more cost effective to schedule on one of our “Botox Days.”
