Skin resurfacing Co2 fractional laser or CORE laser
Skin resurfacing and rejuvenation using Co2 fractional laser known as the CO2RE.
CORE Co2 fractional laser is the newest Factional laser used for skin resurfacing, skin tightening, and destruction of lesions, acne scarring, and warts. Its two applications can be for cosmetic and for medical skin conditions. It does require a consultation. There is no medical downtime, however, there is redness and peeling after treatment which can last for up to two weeks.
How Fractional Lasers work: the term “LASER” stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The laser drills thousands of little holes into the deep layers of the skin ablating the abnormal and old cells. While doing that, the small micro-wounds force the body to create new collagen. The depth and energy levels of the laser are determined by the Physician.
How it works: Many med spas offer lasers but real medical lasers need to be operated or directly supervised by a certified physician. The CO2RE has 7 treatment modes that treat many skin problems. It offers dramatic results after ONE session. There is a lot of marketing of lasers without being the real thing and is not truly effective.
How do I know if CO2RE is right for me?
Ideal Candidates are in their 30s or older with damage to the skin from sun exposure and other imperfections and scars, although it can treat other things such as acne scarring which is determined by the physician. It’s great for anyone seeking younger-looking skin.
What is CO2RE procedure like?
There is some moderate discomfort but there are anesthetics that make it tolerable or the Doctor can use numbing in the area for intense treatments. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be used for discomfort the following days afterward. The sensation is like a sunburn afterward with peeling for 7-10 days.
Post treatment precautions:
You may be prescribed an antiviral or antibiotic. The doctor may also recommend a cream during healing for weeks afterward. Avoiding the sun during healing is most important.
How much does the treatment cost?
It depends on the area being treated and if it’s a medical need or cosmetic. A consultation will determine the cost and Dr. Bergqvist’s staff can arrange insurance payment or payment plan.
How long do results last?
Although the body continues to age, you can have permanent or long-lasting results as long as you take good care of your skin. Results show after healing from one treatment, although it may be advised you have follow-up treatments.
